Privacy notice
Last updated: 31 October 2026
Who we are. Maps Gap is run by Andrew Smith, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain ("we"). The legal notice (aviso legal) gives our full details. Contact for anything in this notice: andy@mapsgap.com.
What this notice covers. This website and the Maps Gap pilot for agencies. It does not cover the reports that agencies send to their own prospects: each agency is responsible for its own outreach and its own privacy notice.
What we collect when you join the pilot.
- Your agency's name and website.
- Your name and email address.
- Your branding: logo, colours, font, call-to-action wording and links.
- The scans you ask for: country, town, search and language.
- Whether you would like to be considered as a case study, and whether you want an email when Maps Gap launches.
- Technical data needed to stop spam, processed by Cloudflare's spam check when you send the form.
Why we use it.
- To review your request, run the pilot you asked for (up to 3 scans), make reports in your branding, and email you the results.
- To contact you about your pilot, about becoming a case study if you ticked that box, and about Maps Gap's launch if you ticked that box. You can ask us to stop at any time.
- To prevent misuse: if we decline a request, we keep a short record so that a repeat request can be checked carefully.
How long we keep it.
- Requests we have not answered: deleted after 90 days.
- Pilot agencies: kept while the pilot runs and for 12 months after our last contact with you, then deleted, unless you become a customer.
- Declined requests: a short record (agency name, website, contact name, email and the reason) is kept for 2 years, then deleted. Any logo you sent is deleted straight away.
Who else handles it. We use these services to run Maps Gap:
- Cloudflare (website hosting, the form, file storage, email forwarding and the spam check);
- Supabase (our database, hosted in London, United Kingdom);
- Google (email at andy@mapsgap.com).
The scans themselves are run through DataForSEO, which receives only the town or map position, the search and the language, never your personal details. We do not sell your details or use them for advertising.
Cookies. This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The spam check on the form may use technical data in your browser to tell people from automated programs.
Your rights. You can ask us for a copy of your details, ask us to correct or delete them, or object to how we use them, by emailing andy@mapsgap.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Spain the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), or in the United Kingdom the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Changes. If this notice changes, the new version will be on this page with a new date.
